  • Red Bull Frozen Rush is returning to Sunday River Resort for a second year on Jan. 8 and 9, 2015. This one-of-a-kind, nationally renowned, on-snow truck race features 10 of the world’s best drivers on the slopes of South Ridge in 900-horsepower Pro4 trucks on a custom-designed course. As we learned from last year, residents in the region will notice an uptick in traffic with large delivery trucks and people coming to the area from around the country. We’d like to inform your readership of alternatives to access this event.

All are welcome to attend Frozen Rush and the event is free, with viewing areas at the South Ridge Lodge and a jumbotron facing the base of the mountain. If you do plan to join us, please wear comfortable boots since you will be walking up the hill on snow. While the event is free, anyone wishing to ski or snowboard is required to purchase a lift ticket.

    Thursday, Jan. 8

Red Bull Frozen Rush Fan Day

10 a.m.-12 p.m. Frozen Rush Time Qualifying Races – Slopeside at South Ridge Lodge

12 p.m.-2 p.m. Frozen Rush Pit Tours – Barker Lodge Parking Area (access via shuttle from South Ridge Lodge)

    Friday, Jan. 9

Red Bull Frozen Rush Race Day

12 p.m.-3 p.m. Red Bull Frozen Rush Finals – Slopeside at South Ridge Lodge

Please be advised: We expect Friday to be significantly busy and we encourage anyone with a flexible schedule to join us for the qualifying races on Thursday to avoid the crowds. For those who wish to see the action from their homes on Friday, RedBull will be streaming the races live at RedBull.com/FrozenRush, starting at 12:30 p.m.

Since Frozen Rush attracts thousands of spectators, parking may be tight and we expect a great deal of traffic. We recommend people who have access to the Mountain Explorer to please utilize that free service. You can find a schedule and stops at MountainExplorer.org.

If you do plan to come on Friday and you don’t have access to the Mountain Explorer, it will be easier and quicker for you to park in Bethel behind the old Casablanca movie theater. We will be running shuttles at 15-minute intervals from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. all day on Friday.

Thank you, Bethel region, for your cooperation as Sunday River brings this large-scale event to the area for a second year.
