Once again it’s getting close to summer. School will be closing and that means the Bethel Library Summer Reading program will soon begin. “We encourage all pre-school, elementary, and middle school children to participate,” said Michelle Conroy, librarian at the Bethel Library.
Children have the option of reading 20 books (younger children) or a minimum of 15 hours. The children and their parents can decide which plan is the best for them.
“The intent of this program is to read for enjoyment and not to have pressure to complete this goal,” explained Conroy. “The library encourages children to visit the library and to get a library card. Books can be selected from the library.”
Children can sign up for the Summer Reading Program at the library any time after June 19, 2015. Children who participate in the program will receive a Sea Dogs baseball game voucher and other prizes.
The Bethel Library is located at 5 Broad Street. For more information on Summer Reading Program or other library activities, call 824-2520.
