andy-Firefighter Ben Byam of the Rumford Fire Department will begin a 60-day weight loss challenge to help raise funds for the new Andy Barlow home in Hanover. Byam, a longtime friend of Barlow, will kick off the challenge with an official “weigh-in” at the Rooster’s Roadhouse, tonight, Thursday, Sept. 24. Doors open at 6 pm and festivities will continue throughout the evening. Immediately following Byam’s weigh-in and request for pledges, Rooster’s owner Steve Etheridge will auction over 25 items and services donated by local area businesses and citizens of the community. One hundred percent of all auction proceeds and Byam’s weight loss pledges will go toward funding windows for Barlow’s new home. Some of the items include fly fishing lessons, 2 rounds of golf, stand up paddleboard lessons, a group yoga class, ski lift passes, snow tubing passes, original paintings, Adirondack chairs, a session with a personal fitness trainer and gym membership, vintage ski memorabilia, a diamond electric toothbrush, pet and veterinary services, and many gifts card, services, and products from Bethel businesses, stores, and professionals. Payments by check are preferred but credit or cash will also be accepted. Donations to the project are tax-deductible and payable to the project’s fiscal agent, HelpHOPELive, a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt non-profit charitable organization.
