We’ve worked very hard to make sure families in need know they can turn to the Food Pantry for help. Unfortunately, there are a lot of families in need, and we run the risk of going beyond our resources. Our mission is to help families in the SAD 44 towns. This month, folks will need to show a valid driver’s license or state ID showing they live within the school district. If you need to have someone else pick up boxes a box for you, please make arrangements with Dave Bean at 824-0369 prior to our next distribution day. This month, we had a limited number of vegetable seedlings for gardens donated by Alium Farms, we would welcome additional seedlings (they don’t have to be perfect), contact Rebecca Zicarelli at 824-4557, and she’ll pick them up. Distribution is the second Monday of each month from 12 to 8 p.m. at the Nazarene Church on Church Street in Bethel.
Throughout the winter, we’ve relied on volunteers from Mahoosuc Kids Association, Telstar Interact and Gould Academy Outreach, but soon, school’s out for summer. If you can, please help us with unloading food for distribution and packing boxes. (We have a lot of fun, too).
The Food Pantry always needs funds. Please donate if you can. Because of the bulk purchasing power we get through the Good Shepard Food Bank, $1 of your contribution allows us to purchase $4 worth of food; so every dollar counts.
For families in need, the box of food they get really matters. Your contributions are tax deductible and can be mailed to The Bethel Food Pantry, P.O. Box 232, Bethel, Maine 04217.
Contact Dave Bean at 824-0369 to volunteer or if you have any questions. And thank you for helping your neighbors and caring for our community. Last month the Food Pantry made a big difference for nearly 100 families in the area. Your support is crucial to making that happen. And if your family has need, we’re here to help.
