“Born into Brothels”

The screening of the award-winning film Born into Brothels: Calcutta’s Red Light Kids was prompted by a project by a Gould student and an old friendship between an Academy Award Winning director and Gould faculty.
brothelAs a result, the Bethel community has a rare opportunity to see this outstanding film and then interact with Director Ross Kauffman during an open Q&A session Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m. at Gould’s Bingham Auditorium, 45 Church Street. Admission is free.
This 2004 American documentary film is about the children of prostitutes in Sonagachi, Kolkata’s red light district. The widely acclaimed film, was written and directed by Zana Briski and Ross Kauffman, and won a string of accolades including the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2005.
