Tuesdays and Thursdays of each month: Walking for Seniors from 1:30-2:30 in Gould Academy’s Bingham Gym.

Third Thursday of the month: Maine Mineral & Gem Museum holds Third Thursdays Tours & Talks. Winter months feature presentations held in the Museum Store and Preview Gallery from 3-4:30 p.m. Summer months feature tours at renowned regional geological sites. Hebron

Saturdays: Breakfasts at the American Legion on Main St. in Norway from 8-9 a.m. It is a temporary winter location. All are welcome to enjoy a hot breakfast and great fellowship.

Woodstock

Second Saturday of the month: Woodstock Historical Society meeting at 6 p.m. in the museum.

AA meetings

Cancer Support

Northern Vista at Home Senior Care offers a free shuttle service to those going to re-occurring chemo or radiation appointments at St. Mary’s or Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. To schedule a ride call Gerry McCann, director at 207-836-2173.

Support and Education for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. Every Thursday, 1:30-3 p.m. at Rumford Hospital, Room 357. 877-336-7287. Call to confirm in stormy weather.

Exchanges/Pantries

Clothing Exchange: Bethel Park, 23 Mason St., Bethel. Hours: Monday 1-4, Thursday 4-6, Saturday, 10-12. Donations of gently-used clothing only accepted during open hours. No exceptions. 824-4090. Clothing may also be dropped off at Northeast Bank on Main Street.

Bethel Food Pantry: Serves residents of Albany, Andover, Bethel, East Bethel, West Bethel, Bryant Pond, Gilead, Greenwood, Hanover, Locke’s Mills, Mason Township, Newry, Upton and Woodstock. The Food Pantry is open on the second Monday of each month from noon until 8 p.m. Anyone who needs food should come during those hours, without an appointment. The Food Pantry is located in the basement of the Nazarene Church, 16 Church St. in Bethel by the side entrance on Park Street. Help for the Homeless

Rumford Group Homes, Inc. operates three homeless shelters, a Maternity Group Home program for homeless pregnant and parenting youth ages 18-21 and Case Management services. Lyme Disease

First Wednesday of the month; Lyme Disease Support & Education Group from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Beacon House Peer Center, 3 Canal St. Rumford. FMI: 357-1926 or 824-3076.

Mental illness

Beacon House Social Club: 150 Congress St., Rumford, a drop-in social club for adults suffering from mental, emotional, or physical illness. We provide support, relaxation, and socialization. Monday 1-5 p.m.; Tuesday 9 a.m.-2 p.m.; Wednesday 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; Thursday 3-8 p.m.; Friday 2-7 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oxford County Mental Health Services, support for adults and children with mental illness, same location, second floor, open Monday-Friday 8 a.m-4 p.m. For more information, call 364-3549 or 800-335-9999, or in off-hours 928-3222.

Community Concepts: Provides Oxford County Head Start, childcare, free rides to Maine Care appointments, subsidized apartments (Bethel, Brownfield, Fryeburg, Norway, Rumford, South Paris), affordable home-ownership opportunities, homeless shelter and assistance with home heating or weatherizing. Alzheimer’s Support Group: meets the third Wednesday of every month from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Rumford Community Home located at 11 John F. Kennedy Lane. All are welcome. For more information call 364-7863.

Stephens Memorial Hospital (Norway) Support Groups

Tuesdays: Diabetes Prevention Program from 5-6 p.m. There is a one-time $20 fee for the program. To register or learn more information about the program, contact Betty Sirois, MSN, RN, CDE, Diabetes Nurse Educator at Stephens Memorial Hospital at 744-6057. First Tuesday of the month: Cancer Support Group for Women Any woman who has experienced a cancer diagnosis, past or present. Drop in and stay for as long as you can. Bring a brown bag lunch or a snack. 12 -1:30. Call Patti-Ann Douglas, RN, Patient Navigator at 744-6173.

Third Wednesday of each month: Diabetes Support Group in the Harper Conference Center located in the Ripley Medical Building from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. The group is free and open to all who have or are affected by diabetes. 744-6057

Grief Support: 743-1562 x 6999. For people coping with the loss of a loved one(s), SMH offers grief support. There is no fee for this service. Please call for schedule of meetings.

Second Wednesday of the month: Mended Hearts, for people interested in staying heart healthy as well as heart event survivors and their families. The group meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 5:00 pm at: 193 Main St. Harper Conference Center in Ripley Medical Building. Guest speaker changes monthly. 744-6030.

Veterans Services

Maine Veterans Home, S. Paris: Veterans’ Advocate visits first and third Wednesday each month, 9-12 noon (743-6300); In Rumford at 9 to 12-noon every second Thursday at VA Clinic at 431 Franklin St. (369-3272). Maine Veterans’ Services is located at 29 Westminster St., Lewiston (783-5306).
