Third Thursday of the month: Maine Mineral & Gem Museum holds Third Thursdays Tours & Talks. Winter months feature presentations held in the Museum Store and Preview Gallery from 3-4:30 p.m. Summer months feature tours at renowned regional geological sites. Clothing Exchange: Bethel Park, 23 Mason St., Bethel. Hours: Monday 1-4, Thursday 4-6, Saturday, 10-12. Donations of gently-used clothing only accepted during open hours. No exceptions. 824-4090. Clothing may also be dropped off at Northeast Bank on Main Street.
Bethel Food Pantry: Serves residents of Albany, Andover, Bethel, East Bethel, West Bethel, Bryant Pond, Gilead, Greenwood, Hanover, Locke’s Mills, Mason Township, Newry, Upton and Woodstock. The Food Pantry is open on the second Monday of each month from noon until 8 p.m. Anyone who needs food should come during those hours, without an appointment. The Food Pantry is located in the basement of the Nazarene Church, 16 Church St. in Bethel by the side entrance on Park Street. Help for the Homeless
Rumford Group Homes, Inc. operates three homeless shelters, a Maternity Group Home program for homeless pregnant and parenting youth ages 18-21 and Case Management services. Beacon House Social Club: 150 Congress St., Rumford, a drop-in social club for adults suffering from mental, emotional, or physical illness. We provide support, relaxation, and socialization. Stephens Memorial Hospital (Norway) Support Groups
Tuesdays: Diabetes Prevention Program from 5-6 p.m. There is a one-time $20 fee for the program. Second Wednesday of the month: Mended Hearts, for people interested in staying heart healthy as well as heart event survivors and their families.
