Telstar 5k race to benefit animal shelter

Students in the 7th/8th grade Advanced Art Class at Telstar Middle School will present the “Make It Pawsable 5K & Field Day Challenge” event on Friday June 13, at Telstar. The event will start at 11:45 a.m. and end at 2:00 pm. All money raised at this event will benefit the new Bethel animal shelter, Heart of the Mountains. You can visit this organization on the web at www.heartofthemountains.org.

In this event, participants can choose to register either for a 5K race around the Telstar track, or they can sign up with a team of four to compete in the Field Day Challenge, which will be held in the center of the track. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place 5K racers, as well as the first, second, and third Field Day Challenge teams. All participants are encouraged to dress in animal-themed costumes, and there will be prizes for the best individual animal costume and the best team animal costumes.

The event is open to everyone ages 10 and up, and the registration fee is $5.00 per person. To register, visit the Make It Pawsable project website – http://makeitpawsable.wix.com/telstar to get a digital download of the registration form. The deadline for registration is June 5th at 2:30pm. For additional details about this event, contact Melissa Prescott, TMS Visual Art Teacher – prescotm@sad44.org.
