At the final awards night for Telstar Varsity Softball recently senior pitcher Jessica Dirago received many awards, including a plaque to be put in the Telstar trophy case for breaking three school records in her career. She broke the record for most strikeouts in a game with 18 against Lisbon this year, broke the single season record (set by her last year) with 197 strikeouts in a season this year, and broke the career record for strikeouts with 509 in three years. She was also awarded the MVP for the season and MVC First Team All Star. The career strikeouts record had been held by Stacey Kangas for 20 years. Jessica will attend the University of Maine at Farmington for two years of core classes, then go on to Grand Valley State University in Michigan for the final two years for a bachelors’ degree in ultrasound (specializing in OBGYN).
